The MMIC Difference
Mission
Our Mission is to connect entrepreneurs and businesses to the resources
necessary for them to locate, grow and succeed in mid-Michigan.
The
MMIC Difference
MMIC is a privately funded
start-up company currently facing the same daily challenges as our tenants and
clients. Our organization operates with minimal staff and leverages
collaborative partnerships for the benefit of our customers.
We support
entrepreneurs and start-up companies in the industrial sectors, and do not
target specific technologies. We are also connected with Michigan’s SmartZones™
and other business incubators around the U.S. that focus on specific
technologies, providing clients with contacts and valuable expertise in a
multitude of technology areas including nano-technologies, alternate energy,
pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Responsiveness to our customers is MMIC’s
top priority — so flexibility is embedded throughout our organization.
MMIC History
The idea for MMIC was created in 2004 by the late Ted Doan. His idea
was further developed and supported by the staff and board of directors of
MITECH+.
Several area foundations committed financial support
for MMIC operation.
The Dow
Chemical Company is significant to MMIC’s past and present, as it is in the
process of donating the 107,000-square-foot facility to MMIC.
In February
2007, MMIC was granted 501(c)(3) status, allowing the organization to become a
stand-alone entity.
