
Kenneth W. Kousky, CISSP, CISA, CGEIT
Ken Kousky is CEO of the MidMichigan Innovation Center, a privately funded, non-profit business incubator assisting entrepreneurs in the creation and expansion of their businesses throughout mid-Michigan. In addition, Ken is also President/CEO of IP3, Inc., an information security consulting firm.
An experienced chief executive and financial economist, Ken is a veteran of the information technology industry. Ken has successfully started three companies and played instrumental roles in two turnarounds and two IPO’s. In 1988, Ken founded an IT services company, Wave Technologies, and within six years, he guided his vision from home through an IPO to a successful public company.
An active investor in start-ups, Ken is a founding member and Executive Director of the BlueWater Angels Investment Network, a Michigan-based funding network that reviews more than 100 potential businesses annually. He is also Executive Director of Michigan EB-5, LLC, (a Global Investment Program), and serves on numerous other committees involved in regional and statewide commercial development.
In 2010, Ken was appointed President of the Saginaw Public Schools Foundation and currently serves on the Boards of Michigan Sugar Company, Air Advantage, Duperon Corporation Advisory Board, and is Chairman of the Boards of Salare Security and Bravo:Smart Web Design. In addition, Ken has served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the Chicago Chamber of Commerce and its CEC, Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center. From 2007-2010, Ken served as Dow Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Saginaw Valley State University.
As an inventor, Ken holds a pending patent assigned to the Illinois Institute of Technology, US Patent Application #11/641375, filed December 18, 2006, titled “Method for Securing Streaming Multimedia Network Transmissions”. Ken was the lead investigator for a U.S. Department of Defense STTR Research Grant. As a technologist, Ken holds professional certifications as a CISSP, CISA and CGEIT (Certified Information Systems Security Professional; Certified Information Systems Auditor; and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT).
A sought-after speaker on topics such as national cyber security, corporate risk management and enterprise network security, Ken is able to bridge the gap between the "C's" and their focus on financial outcomes and the operational and technical professionals. From "Bits to Budgets", he is able to cut through the noise factors surrounding today's critical technology, business and security issues to provide clear and concise insight into the most pressing IT Security issues.
Ken has taught at Saginaw Valley State University, Washington University where he serves on its Arts and Sciences National Council, and the University of Pennsylvania.
